With the new technology delivered by Telenor in cooperation with the software company BXO Solutions, the alarm displays disappeared from the corridors of the nursing home. This reinforces the patients' privacy, because the patients' alarms are no longer shown to everyone.
Additionally, the old alarm displays were by many visitors perceived as an annoyance.
- Some were disturbed by the fact that it could be the same person who again "was hitting the alarm". And actually this is not information that is of interest to their surroundings, so it's good that now only the staff receive the alarms, "says Anna-Lena Eriksson, Head of Hässleholm.
The nursing staff mobile alerts are presented in order of priority, something that older systems based on DECT phones were unable to. In addition, these old systems can only handle a single alarm at a time.
- For example, when the fire alarm goes off, it is more important than a patient who needs help with a chore. The fire alarms will appear at the top of the telephone display and the staff can act accordingly, "says Anna-Lena Eriksson.
For a better user experience, the alarms are colour-coded, which simplifies the alarm management.
- This alarm solution is a good example of how mobile technology can help increase efficiency and facilitate daily life in many workplaces. The interest in mobility is steadily increasing and we see great potential for this type of solutions for the elderly, "says Mats Lundquist, group head of Corporate Telenor Sweden.
